Living With Intention: On and Off the Mat

Saturday, September 11, 11-1pm

“Intentions compressed into words enfold magical power.”  ~ Deepak Chopra

Life can often feel like it’s got a mind of its own and we’re doing whatever it takes to just hold on. But in fact, it’s your day-to-day choices that most significantly affect how happy, centered, and successful you are.  In this workshop, you’ll discover how to make intentional choices to design the life that’s right for you.

Part yoga practice and part discussion, we’ll explore ways to increase your awareness of the choices you do – and don’t – make so you can live the fulfilling life you deserve. Bring your yoga mat, notepad or journal and pen along with a willingness to play and explore!

This workshop is part of a three part series.  You can attend a single workshop for $25 or purchase the series for $60.

Exploring Yoga Philosophy Series

Friday, September 17, 6-8pm

What is Yoga?

For most people the word “yoga” simply refers to a yoga posture (asana). However, in the classical tradition of yoga, the word actually refers to the state of mind where all fluctuations or thought waves have been brought under control. This definition of yoga is provided to us by Sage Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras, the quintessential yoga text providing both the philosophy of and the methodology for the practice of yoga. In this workshop we will explore the historical perspective on yoga and understand how yoga has been defined by Patanjali.

Subhash Mital instructs.  No fee; love offering appreciated.

Restorative Yoga

Calming the Nervous System, Quieting the Brain

Sunday, September 19, 2-4pm

In the pace of our demanding daily lives, we often neglect time for stillness. When we are in chronic over-drive, our bodies, minds and hearts suffer. Restorative Yoga is a deeply restful practice. Props are used to support the body in poses that are sustained for longer periods of time so that the body can drop deeply into stillness, and the mind and spirit can rest and rejuvenate. Gentle breathing practices are incorporated to cultivate ease in the body. The practice of Restorative Yoga helps calm the nervous system, and helps establish or renew internal balance of mind, body, and spirit. It is a very healing practice accessible to all levels of experience from the novice to the seasoned practioner.

Pre registration is strongly recommended. Cyndi Bulka instructs. Cost: $25

Yoga Nidra:  The Meditative Heart of Yoga

Friday, September 24, 6-7pm

Our minds require consistent training to help us free ourselves of the habits that cause tension in our lives, just as our bodies do. Yoga Nidra literally means "sleep of the yogis". It is a physical and mental relaxation technique which penetrates into much deeper levels of consciousness. Adherents claim that half an hour of Yoga Nidra can replace up to three hours of normal sleep! No experience necessary.
Cyndi Bulka instructs.

Finding Happiness and Serenity through Meditation and Mindfulness
"Peace in Relationships and the Nature of True Love"

Friday, Oct 1; 6-7:30pm

Meditation is not just formal sitting on a cushion. It can take place in every moment of our lives. An important aspect of living with peace in every step is having peace in our relationships especially relationships with those closest to us. To have peace in relationships we must cultivate the intention and the skill of true love both for ourselves and others. In this session we will discuss and practice specific techniques that can transform your interactions with those you love. Whether it is your child, a first date or a partner of many years, to offer true love you must pay attention, you must be fully present, you must listen deeply. Working diligently with these practices can make a real difference.”
Todd Fields instructs. Love Offerings Appreciated. No registration necessary.

Turning Goals into Reality … On and Off the Mat

 Saturday, October 9, 11-1pm

“Happiness is not about making it to the peak of the mountain, nor is it about climbing aimlessly around the mountain; happiness is the experience of climbing toward the peak.” Tal Ben-Shahar

What do yoga and goal achievement have in common? They are both about the process of experiencing the moment while on your way to a destination. And neither one is satisfying if you hate every step along the way ... even if you do ultimately reach your desired outcome.  You can achieve goals that are important to you and enjoy the process. Getting clear on what you want is the critical first step. And then mindfully moving forward to where you want to be is the key to turning your goals into reality.  Join us and you will learn techniques to visualize what’s important to you, set goals around what you want, and put actions into place to achieve your goals.  Part yoga practice and part discussion, come with your yoga mat, notepad or journal and pen along with a willingness to play and explore!

This workshop is part of a three part series.  You can attend a single workshop for $25 or purchase the series for $60.

Balance… On and Off the Mat

Saturday, November 6, 11-1pm

“Yoga is the study of balance, and balance is the aim of all living creatures: it is our home”.  ~ Rolf Gates

Our lives are a balancing act – work, home, personal time, date night, spiritual time, community service, veg out on the couch time, etc.  We all talk about balance, but what REALLY does that mean? It is different for everyone, but at the core, balance is achieved through awareness.  And that means taking stock of the various aspects of our lives and being very clear about what’s most important.  With awareness we have choice, and with choice we can create our lives as we really want them to be.  Every part of life includes an element of balance just as does every yoga pose. Through breathing and focus we are much better able to be grounded in the pose. The same holds true for life balance. In this two-hour workshop combining yoga and discussion, you’ll gain awareness of how to increase your sense of balance and control. Come with your yoga mat, notepad or journal, a pen and a willingness to play and explore!

This workshop is part of a three part series.  You can attend a single workshop for $25 or purchase the series for $60.
